Market Timing

Stock market timing signals arrived at through technical analysis of broad stock market price movements are shown on the chart below for every trading week back to August 18, 2006.

During August of 2009 we responded to suggestions that a finer granularity of technical market timing and the resulting market timing signals would be desirable. 

So we modified our service to make it easier...

  1. to understand our market timing recommendations, and...

  2. to use the market timing strategies for the next trading day.

After August of 2009 we started making our market timing signals available through the following methods.

  • Subscribers receive daily market timing signals and strategies via email after the close of trading on every day the market is open.

  • Non-subscribers can view the weekly and daily stock market timing data and trading strategy recommendations on this page.  However, this information is not kept current on a daily basis and could be up to two weeks old.

  • The market timing blog contains the market timing & technical analysis emails that are sent to subscribers.  These free versions are delayed by a week before they are published.

The bottom line is that stock market timing data and trading strategy recommendations are always free on this page but may be up to a week or two old.  This can be critical in the fast securities market.

Here is a description of contents of each of the columns:

The Weekly column always contains the current weekly market trend.  If the current week is colored green and contains the word "Up" then our technical analysis has determined that an uptrend is present in the weekly time frame.  If the current week is colored red and contains the word "Down" then the determination is that a down trend is present. 

The weekly column can go directly from a bull market to a bear market but will frequently show a yellow color in the daily column somewhere near the transition week.  This indicates that the market trend is in consolidating phase and caution is recommended.  Subscribers get this market timing caution alert via email on the day it occurs.

The daily column works in a similar fashion to the weekly column.  Our subscription  contains hourly market timing analysis after the market close which can help alert readers to a potential cautious or profitable situation. 

The Strategy column contains the recommendation that is coordinated with the current market environment. 

It is important to keep in mind that these market timing signals are a result of technical analysis of stock market indicators.  As such, you cannot blindly follow the recommendations contained on this page without reading the verbiage on the blog or that is delivered to you as a subscriber.

The subscriber updates are designed to create a structured and methodical approach to trading stocks.  Our stock picks are selected to also coordinate with the current stock market environment.
